World Day of Prayer
World Day of Prayer was celebrated all over the world on Friday, March 5th, (annually the first Friday in March). Traditionally, First United Methodist and First Presbyterian share this day together.
So thankful for the gift of technology. We were able to talk live with George Mixon, a missionary to Kenya sponsored by both First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston and United Methodist Church of Thomaston. George was raised in Griffin and his family have been in Kenya for many years. George informed the group all about his mission and how they share the stories of the Bible with the people of Kenya.
During the program several of those present had been long time friends with George and his wife Martha. It was heartwarming to watch his face light up when those individuals spoke to him live.
Chris Hinson, who grew up in First Presbyterian Church and has had a mission in Uganda for 14 years also spoke to the group about Grace for Education, and the new plan for the students of Uganda to receive Biblical discipleship and a vocational education to transition into the workforce of Uganda. Chris is the Chaplain for Thomaston Hospice and General Manager of Chick-Fil-A .
A generous offering by those present was divided between both missions.
