Vision Statement of the First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston, Georgia

In a retreat on January 29, 2005, 39 members met to plan for the future of our church. After studying the characteristics of successful churches (using the Purpose Driven Church), the participants formed into groups and drafted and critiqued vision statements.  Finally, they adopted the following as a vision statement to be considered by the Session and the entire congregation:

”Our Vision: the purpose of First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston, Georgia is to glorify God in Jesus Christ through worship, evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, and service”

On February 16, 2005, at a Family Night Supper program, Pastor Blevins summarized the findings of the retreat and posed the question “Is this vision statement God's will for our church?” Members were encouraged to pray about this.

On February 21, 2005, the Session considered and approved the Vision Statement for our church.

We invite you to join us as we seek to fulfill our vision. (Pictures of our congregation.)
