Announcements

April 17, 2005

We welcome members and visitors who are worshiping with us this morning.  So that we can have a record of your attendance, please sign the red book located at the end of each pew and pass it on to others on your row.

The flowers in the sanctuary this morning are given to the Glory of God and in celebration of Landen Elizabeth Davis’ 2nd birthday by her parents Mark and Christin.

Please continue to keep the following individuals and their families in your prayers: Katherine Birdsong,, John and Virginia Ferguson, Norman Gardner, Leland and Jeanette Harrison (Betty Waggoner’s brother and sister-in-law), Charlie and Martha Jewell Mixon, and Dick Strouss.

The congregation extends its Christian Sympathy to the family of George Reddick who joined the church triumphant on Monday, April 11, 2005.

Prayer Room Ministry

Our Prayer Room Ministry was started in June 1998.  Members of our church visit the Prayer Room on a weekly basis and pray for those who have personally requested prayers and those whose names are placed by others.  At this time there are approximately 100 people who are being prayed for and sent prayergrams.

The strength of our Prayer Room Ministry lies in our Intercessors.  The more we have the stronger our ministry becomes.

We ask you to consider joining us in this work of faith.

Skip Presley will be glad to meet with you and talk about participation.

May Newsletter

Please have all information for the May newsletter in writing to the church office by Monday, April 25.

Chapel

The plans for the new Chapel are located in the Narthex.  If you have any questions please see David Blount.

Free Book

You can obtain a free copy of Parker Williamson’s timely book Standing Firm:  Reclaiming Christian Faith in Times of Controversy.  They are located on the table off the Narthex. (So that everyone can get one, please allow one per family) In the book, Williamson traces our modern religious concerns to the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. and the battle between the forces of Christian faith and cultural accommodation.  This is a must-read for every Presbyterian concerned about denominational issues.
