First Presbyterian Church
3rd Sunday of Easter
The purpose of First Presbyterian Church is to
glorify God in Jesus Christ
through worship, evangelism,
discipleship, fellowship and service.
We Gather To Worship God
Prayer of
Preparation: (Silent)
Eternal God, you have called us to be members
of one body. Join us with those who in
all times and places have praised your name; that, with one heart and mind, we
may show the unity of your church, and bring honor to our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ. Amen

Confession of
Sins
Almighty and merciful God, You ask only for
us to have faith and follow You. Yet so
many times we choose to hold on to our sins and deny Your resurrection. We have held on to our feelings of being unworthy
and denied the message of forgiveness Christ came to bring. We have focused on ourselves and failed to be
witnesses of Your love to the world.
Forgive us, Lord, and make our lives shine for You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

OUR GREETERS TODAY
THE ELDER AT THE
DOOR IS
We joyfully welcome all who visit with us
today. If you would like to become a
member of First Presbyterian, see the pastor or the elder at the door. If you would like to have someone pray for
you or with you, you will find prayer volunteers in the Prayer Room after the
service of worship. (The Prayer Room is to the left of the Narthex as you exit
the sanctuary) Have a wonderful Day in
the Joy of The Lord!
Announcements
We welcome members and visitors who are worshiping with us this
morning. So that we can have a record of
your attendance, please sign the red book located at the end of each pew and
pass it on to others on your row.
The flowers in the sanctuary
this morning are given to the Glory of God and in loving memory of Andy Andrews
by his family.
Please continue to keep the
following individuals and their families in your prayers: Katherine Birdsong,
Caroline Kinsey, Jane Eubanks, John and Virginia Ferguson, Norman Gardner,
Leland and Jeanette Harrison (Betty Waggoner’s brother and sister-in-law),
Charlie and Martha Jewell Mixon, and Dick Strouss.
Prayer Room Ministry
Our Prayer Room Ministry was started in June 1998. Members of our church visit the Prayer Room
on a weekly basis and pray for those who have personally requested prayers and
those whose names are placed by others.
At this time there are approximately 100 people who are being prayed for
and sent prayergrams.
The strength of our Prayer Room Ministry lies in our
Intercessors. The more we have the
stronger our ministry becomes.
We ask you to consider joining us in this work of faith.
Skip Presley will be glad to meet with you and talk about
participation.
The congregation extends its Christian Sympathy to the family of Jesse Rogers who joined the church triumphant on Sunday, April 3.
We welcome Dr. Parker Williamson to the pulpit this morning. Parker Williamson is the editor of the Presbyterian
Layman, a national Christian newspaper, Executive Director of the
Presbyterian Lay Committee, and an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church
(USA). Renowned for his strong
traditionalist values, he has traveled widely in the U.S. and other countries
conducting interviews and speaking at conferences and in churches. A graduate of Rhodes College, Union Theological Seminary (VA), and
Yale Divinity School, he has led the way towards the recovery of Nicene
Theology and the Trinitarian faith.
